Van Benthem & Keulen’s CSR policy
Van Benthem & Keulen attaches great importance to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Why? Because we want to contribute to a sustainable, responsible and socially engaged society. Our CSR policy is therefore founded on three pillars:
- social responsibility
- local and social engagement
- sustainable business
Social responsibility
Driven by a commitment to social responsibility, we help organisations that prioritise public interest. For example, Van Benthem & Keulen is a partner of Pro Bono Connect. Pro Bono Connect is the first public clearinghouse in the Netherlands and acts as an intermediary between non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that need legal assistance and law firms that provide free legal advice.
Local and social engagement
Local and social engagement are extremely important to us. For example, we employ a staff member of UW, an organisation that helps to find suitable employment for people who have been out of work for a long time or who have a physical or mental disability.
We also invest in local social return initiatives, such as the Municipality of Utrecht’s social return project in which, among other things, we buy from social enterprises or from sheltered employment services. For instance, we have been buying Christmas boxes from the sheltered employment service Reinaerde and biscuits from De Koekfabriek for over 3 years.
We have also been a partner of Utrecht University for many years. In 2020, we established University Utrecht Law Clinic together with the university's Law Faculty. The clinic's goal is enabling law students to acquire relevant work experience and providing sound legal advice and litigation assistance to young business owners, start-ups and scale-ups in the Utrecht region. This is all done under the pro-bono guidance of Utrecht University's law professors and Van Benthem & Keulen's legal professionals.
We also provide legal support to local sports clubs.
Sustainable business
We encourage our employees to cycle to work or to use public transport. They also have a digital work space which enables them to work from home or to travel at off-peak times.
