Yesterday, our lawyer and partner Marcel Ruygvoorn was installed as Extraordinary Professor of National and International Commercial Contracting at Utrecht University.

Commercial contracts are becoming increasingly complicated. What used to be settled on the 'back of a beer mat' now often requires a thumb-thick contract. Where does this development come from and what does it mean for overall transaction costs?

At the same time, there is a widespread need in the business community for simpler contracts. This is evident from Marcel's research. Marcel conducted a survey among a representative group of corporate lawyers and general counsels at national and international companies.
