Inaugural lecture by Justine van Lochem at the University of Groningen
Today, Friday 9 June 2023, at 4.15 p.m., our colleague Prof. Justine van Lochem will deliver her inaugural lecture in the auditorium of the Academy Building of the University of Groningen. The title of Van Lochem's inaugural lecture is “Tenancy law: between contract, protection and policy objectives”.
Tenants and landlords enter into a rental agreement, often intended for the long term. In principle, such an agreement should offer the parties certainty that they can fall back on what has been agreed. Rental protection, which is known when the rental agreement is concluded, can limit the parties in this respect. Government policy during the term of the tenancy agreement, which may take the form of a temporary emergency measure or a change in the law, may result in further restrictions that the parties will have to deal with, Justine van Lochem notes.
Today, Justine will be appointed as professor of tenancy law by the Association of Tenancy Law Lawyers (VHA) at the University of Groningen.
