Lawyer Commercial Contracting & Dispute Resolution

Joris den Hartog has been working as a lawyer at Van Benthem & Keulen since August 2021 and is a member of the Commercial Contracting & Dispute Resolution team. Before this, during his studies, he was a paralegal in the Commercial Contracting & Dispute Resolution team from 2018 onwards. Joris specializes in drafting commercial contracts, advising on commercial contracts and commercial litigation. Besides this, Joris specializes in liability law and private international law. Joris regularly publishes articles in scientific journals in these areas of law. In 2021, his master’s thesis, ‘unforeseen circumstances before and after covid’, was published (in Dutch) as a book.

About Joris den Hartog

Joris completed two master’s degrees at Utrecht University: Private Law and Corporate Law. He was awarded the distinction cum laude for both degrees. Before this, he took his bachelor’s degree in Law at Utrecht University. During his time at university, he took part in the honour’s programme Utrecht Law College and he spent a term at the University of Sydney in Australia. During his studies, he published scientific articles in the areas of contract law, liability law and private international law. He was also a volunteer at the Rechtswinkel Utrecht.

Joris is a board member of the Central Netherlands Young Bar Association (Jonge Balie Midden-Nederland). In 2022/2023 he was mainly responsible for the organization of the monthly lectures and in 2023/2024 he is the chair of the Central Netherlands Young Bar Association.
