Dutch Act on Improving Gender Diversity on Corporate Boards came into effect on 1 January 2022

In the Legal Update 'The Dutch Senate approves gender quota for large companies' of 30 September 2021, we wrote about the bill (wetsvoorstel) to improve gender diversity on corporate boards that the Senate had approved on 28 September 2021.

In that Legal Update, we explained the purpose of the new Act, the measures it contains to achieve its purpose, as well as the exceptions. They also indicated that the Act would most likely take effect on 1 January 2022, but that a definitive effective date had yet to be determined. That date has now been set; the Act did in fact come into force on 1 January 2022.
